Mods & Mac - posted in General Subnautica Discussion: Ive noticed there are now some Subnautica mods for those of us using the Mac version of the game. Exactly how do I install those mods? Ive not found any instructions about this and nothing Ive tried works.
Back in 2013, Unknown Worlds Entertainment announced its very first open-world survival game, Subnautica. Though, the game featured a style similar to that of many video games out there, the sheer depth of detail, is what took the community by storm. However, after the game's complete release in 2018, players started experiencing some pretty major issues related to Subnautica lag.
As a result, if you are one who is having issues linking to Subnautica lag, then don't lose heart. We have got your back. Our team technical team has scavenged the internet in search for the best of the best Subnautica lag fixes. So, these issues are what want to get fixed, then you have come to the right place. Check out the guide below and lay waste to your issues for good.
Subnautica Lag
Ever since the game entered its Early Access stage in 2014, the community has been complaining about the rising number of Subnautica lag instances. While we do commend the developers for their hard work which has led to a number of patch updates for the game, the problem of lag still remains. But as we all know, the PC community is quite proactive when it comes to lag and its fixes. Hence, hundreds, if not thousands of lag fixes have emerged on the internet.
However, the question arises, which of these workarounds are the best for you? Well, this is where we come in. We have comprised a list of some of the best workarounds which we believe will get you out of this rut. So, without wasting any more time, let us get on with the possible Subnautica lag fixes.
Subnautica Lag Fix
So, kicking things off, let us talk about the Subnautica system requirements. We understand that this isn't exactly what you call a workaround but from what we have seen, not meeting these requirements is what causes players to experience lag in the game.
As a result, we would advise you to check out the minimum and recommended system requirements for Subnautica down below and see if your PC is able to run the game or not.
Minimum Requirements
- CPU: Intel Haswell 2 cores / 4 threads @ 2.5Ghz or equivalent
- RAM: 4 GB
- GPU: Intel HD 4600 or equivalent
- HDD: 20 GB available space
Recommended Requirements
- CPU: Intel Haswell 4 cores / 4 threads @ 3.2Ghz or equivalent
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: Nvidia GTX 550 Ti or equivalent, 2GB VRAM
- HDD: 20 GB available space
If you are only meeting the game's minimum requirements, there is a chance, this is the reason why you are experiencing Subnautica lag. If this is the case, we would advise you to at least match the game's recommended requirements. Hopefully, doing so will help you get an answer for the question, how to fix lag in Subnautica.
Subnautica FPS Lag
Now, if you are coming across Subnautica FPS lag or drops, there are a number of things which would be the cause of this. From hardware issues to incompatible Operating System settings, almost everything can have an effect on your FPS. As a result, there is no sure-shot fix for this sort of problem. However, since you are running the game on a PC and not a console, you can mess around with almost every single things, whether it being within the game or outside.
So, mentioned below are some possible workaround which you can apply to get better FPS in Subnautica. Keep in mind, that all of the fixes mentioned here are reversible, which means you can go back to how things work whenever you want.
